A week of minor milestones

This week contains a few coincidental milestones:

It's my fourth anniversary of being a homeowner with Tess
It's also the fourth anniversary since I last had a pay raise (or bonus, or review, or etc.)
I've had my current job for two years this week
Red Hat Linux will be officially dead
My ~~38th~~ 37th birthday is this week
My nephew's 8th birthday is this week as well

Seems like there was more when I was thinking about it on the way home. Huh. Anyway, it's way more stuff than last week...

Actually, SCK, I got a bump in my base salary when I went to S4R. A pretty good bump, actually. Leaving a low-paying, high-stock gig like the Q, you know, you have to ask for a little toke, at least as far as immediate receivables are concerned. Breadwinners need their slice and so forth. But that's not a raise. I was just getting myself up to an industry standard wage. :-) And I've got S4R's founders to thank for that. And for all the cool stuff I learned, and great people I met. I look back fondly on my time there. I'd work there again in a heartbeat, actually. Todd's probably going to have an apoplexy reading that...

If I sound annoyed about not getting a raise, it's only because I'm working for the gubmint now. They're pretty stagnant, budgets are menacing, and they charge for a million little things. My take home pay isn't all that much more than what it was at the Q. I'd be happy if it at least kept up with inflation. And when you see other people getting bonuses and such it's an "outside looking in" sort of situation. But at least I don't have reviews anymore. After all, what's the point? "If you want to get a non-existent promotion within the next 12 years or a 1.1% raise in the next 6, you should work a little harder in these areas..." I just do what I do and have fun. Beats digging holes.

Was the up2date fiasco when the cert got dorked? I feel for ya, man...
